Memories…

In this crazy, busy world, everyone has things that get pushed to the “back burner” while trying to handle the day to day tasks. We never seem to have enough time to do everything we want to do each day. We always think to ourselves “I’ll do that tomorrow”, yet that tomorrow never seems to arrive as we deal with the little details that crop up. Eventually we find reasons to regret our procrastination. The person we wanted to sit and talk with is out of reach, the program we wanted to see is gone, the photos we wanted to organize are lost or destroyed by age or disaster. No matter how hectic life can get, we all need to make time for ourselves, time to do what we know is important to US. Take time to make that phone call and reconnect, spend a little time sorting down some of those photos, set aside time to watch that interesting program that we feel is important to us.

Sharing our stories is an important part of our lives. Most of us never seem to find the time to do so. When we do finally have the time, our memories can be cloudy, our photos faded and hard to decipher.

DPTV knows that it can be hard to make time. Many have been looking forward to the 10 part series “Carrier” but things get in the way of seeing all the episodes. The great news is all 10 episodes will be showing over the weekend on DPTV! You can catch the first 6 episodes back to back on Saturday May 3rd starting at 6PM and the last 4 episodes on Sunday May 4th starting at 4PM. We’re also collecting memories from the community and sharing those stories online. Many of us have family members with stories of life during wartime and peacetime in military service and those stories are usually never written down. Take time with your loved one to visit our Carrier page and submit their story so those memories can be preserved and shared. You’ll be glad you spent that time to connect.

Another way DPTV is helping to store and share memories is through our Photo Gallery. Located on the lower left side of our home page you can find a link to our Flickr photostream where photos from our various events are posted. If DPTV was there, photos are posted! From our recent welcome reception in honor of Rich Homberg, the private concert with David Broza and even Sesame Street Live photos, DPTV is preserving those precious memories for all and sharing with the world.

One other way DPTV helps to share wonderful memories is by bringing you programs like American Masters to preserve memorable performances. Saturday night, you can remember the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin from Midnight until 1AM Sunday morning. No other station can (or will) bring you these wonderful memories.

Vow to make time to reconnect, remember and preserve those memories. Even 30 minutes a week can make a world of difference in preserving and sharing those memories and stories with the world.
